Faith

What a powerful word, don’t you think?
What is Faith?
According to the dictionary it is a…
…confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
or a
strong or unshakeable belief in something, especially without proof or evidence.
Descriptions of Faith also include:
a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny;
(as in: “he lost his faith but not his morality”)
A belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.
Loyalty or even allegiance to a person, dogma, principle, cause or thing.
Besides the theological virtue defined as
secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God’s will
Faith is also
a set of principles or beliefs
that can shape
the body of dogma of a religion
Faith presupposes complete and unconditional confidence, trust, honesty and sincerity.
People, rituals, dogmas or principles are held ‘in good faith’.
How Faith works
Sometimes we get challenged so much that we think we can’t get further.
Those are the moments when Faith gets us going.
It’s Faith in a higher source that gives us hope, that lets us see the light at the end of the tunnel.
We keep the faith in purpose – that what happens will someday make sense, that there is a reason or a bigger plan that we can’t understand today, but maybe will one day.
And it is Faith in ourselves that makes us get up when we fall, that lets us try one more time, one more time, one more time.
Where would we be if Edison wouldn’t have had Faith in his ability to find a way to create a light bulb that works?
Keep the Faith
I could hardly say it any better than Michael Jackson in his Keep the Faith:
Believe in yourself no matter what it willl take
You can be a winner but you got to keep the Faith!
(for the complete lyrics refer to Keep the Faith)
